Generation One - Chapter Three - Date Night

The following morning after talking with Don, Edwin decided to visit Constance and set up a date.

Once he rang the doorbell, Edwin realized that there was no turning back. He managed to control his nerves and waited patiently for the door to be answered.

Constance was initially surprised by Edwin's visit, but she politely invited him inside.

Edwin followed Constance into the house. He kept practising what to say in his head, but the words started to jumble.

“I'm sorry to bother you Constance,” Edwin said as he gulped down his fear, “I was wondering if?” Edwin continued to struggle, “If you would like to go out together sometime?”

Constance seemed hesitant at his request and remained silent for a moment. Edwin began to feel dizzy as he waited for an answer.

“Where would you take me?” she finally replied.

Edwin's spirits were lifted. “How about dinner?” he asked.

After another brief moment of thinking, Constance smiled and answered, “Okay, that sounds delightful.”

Once they decided on tomorrow night for dinner, they embraced. “I'm looking forward to dinner,” Constance assured Edwin.

The next day, since he was still without plumbing, Edwin decided to visit the local gym so he could clean up in preparation for his date.

His next stop was the salon. Edwin was in desperate need for a new outfit. After an afternoon of searching, he finally found something suitable.

Outside of the salon, Edwin called the restaurant and reserved a patio table.

Dinner hour was approaching, so Edwin returned to Constance's house to pick her up.

They both hugged in excitement. Constance seemed to like Edwin's new look and Edwin thought Constance looked even better.

It was already getting dark, so they both walked to the restaurant.

The two sat down to a candle light dinner on the restaurant patio. Edwin nor Constance could think of anything more romantic.

Edwin gazed at Constance throughout dinner. He knew he was in love with her, but wasn't sure if she felt the same.

For the rest of the meal, they mainly talked about paintings and books. Edwin appreciated the art in writing, and Constance appreciated the stories behind paintings.

After dinner, they decided to take a walk through the town plaza.

When Edwin and Constance returned home, she invited him to come inside so they could continue their chat.

Edwin made himself comfortable on the sofa, while Constance decided to light the fireplace.

She sat down and kept her eyes on the flames. Edwin, however, was glancing in her direction.

He then slowly managed to put his arm around Constance. She didn't seem to mind and leaned in closer.

Then they both turned to look each other in the eyes...

...and kissed.
