Generation One - Chapter Four - Painting The Future

Edwin continued to work every morning on his paintings. He decided to invest some of his savings in another easel.

During the evening, Constance would often invite Edwin over for dinner.

She would also occasionally welcome him to spend the night.

Edwin continued to build his friendship with Don. They would frequently get together and catch a movie.

Once he sold enough paintings, Edwin was finally able to build the foundation for his house.

Edwin invited Constance to be the subject of his next painting. He enjoyed the company while at work.

Their passion for one another continued to grow. Constance was doing a lot less reading in her personal library.

They eventually found their way into bed.

Edwin knew that he loved Constance. When they finished, all he could think about was marrying her.

The following morning while enjoying breakfast, Edwin announced to Constance that he was delivering one of his paintings to buyer in France. Constance was delighted, but was even more delighted when Edwin invited her to come along for the journey.

The following day, Edwin and Constance were on a flight to France. They finally arrived at their hotel in the small town of Champs Les Sims.

Edwin and Constance were thrilled to be there. The French landscape was breathtaking.

After they checked into the hotel, Edwin and Constance decided to take a walk into town.

They eventually arrived at the town marketplace.

The market surrounded a beautiful French park. Edwin and Constance decided to split up and explore.

Constance strolled into the local bookstore.

She browsed the shelves and found a quiet spot to read.

Edwin found his way into the general store.

He asked the clerk if they sold any cameras. She nodded and went to find him one.

Edwin had always wanted to learn photography, so he bought the camera before he left.

The buyer for Edwin's painting ran the local relic store. Edwin decided to head over and make the delivery.

The store was filled with all sorts of antiques and artifacts.

Edwin introduced himself to the buyer. His name was Laurant Durand.

Laurant thanked Edwin for the painting and for making the delivery.

Before he left, Edwin decided to buy a copper vase for Constance.

That afternoon, Edwin and Constance met at the market café. They decided to sample some of the French cheeses that were sold there.

After touring town and taking pictures, Edwin and Constance returned to the hotel. Edwin relaxed in bed while Constance read one of the books she bought at the bookstore.

The following day, Edwin and Constance decided to visit the art gallery and museum.

Edwin was inspired by the statues and sculptures. Constance also enjoyed them.

Constance continued to explore the gallery.

She then noticed that Edwin was no where to be found.

She thought that he must of got caught up looking at one of the sculptures and decided to continue her tour.

Constance made her way through the exhibits. She wondered what could have occupied Edwin.

There was a large stone vase in one of the exhibits. Constance jokingly hoped that Edwin was not buying her one of these vases.

Constance eventually came across a long hallway leading to the stairway.

She could see a man standing at the other end of the hall.

Constance was relieved that the man was Edwin. He was dressed differently. Edwin gently stroked her cheek and told her to follow him outside.

They came out to a large courtyard in front of the gallery.

“From the moment I first laid my eyes on you,” Edwin admitted, “I knew that I was in love with you.”

Edwin then dropped to one knee and turned away.

A smile grew across Constance's face.

Followed by complete shock as Edwin turned back with a box in his hands.

Edwin opened the box to reveal a French cut diamond ring.

He pulled out the ring and asked, “Will you marry me?”

Constance held out her hand and nodded.

She lifted her hand and gazed at the ring that Edwin put on her finger.

Edwin rose and Constance wrapped her arms around him. They were both elated.
