Generation One - Chapter One - A Chancellor In Riverview

Edwin Chancellor had just arrived in the sleepy town of Riverview. He was eager to see the land he recently inherited from a distant relative.

What immediately struck Edwin was how beautiful the landscape was beyond the property. He then noticed the flat and empty piece of land directly in front of him.

Edwin was disappointed with the property's lack of shelter, but he quickly forgot about that. His inner artist was more interested in finding a place for his easel.

After he found a spot in the middle of the property, Edwin pulled out a large canvas and started to paint.

He gently stroked the canvas, attempting to capture the beauty and elegance that engulfed his surroundings. “Nothing is better then the great outdoors,” Edwin thought to himself.

Soon the early afternoon approached and Edwin's painting was close to completion. He was hopeful that his morning's hard work would pay off.

Once he was finished, Edwin relaxed and took a step back from the canvas. Edwin was pleased when he didn't stumble, since he is usually quite clumsy.

Edwin surveyed the painting very carefully. His critical perfectionist inside caused him to see only the worst of the painting. A disappointed Edwin left his failed masterpiece on the easel to dry.

In need of groceries, Edwin took a taxi into town. All he could think about during the drive was his inadequate painting.

After he arrived at the town plaza, Edwin took a minute to observe his new surroundings.

“What an extraordinary place!” he thought to himself. The plaza was home to a grocery store, a library, a spa, a bookstore and a restaurant. Edwin was especially interested by the art gallery.

After running errands at the grocery store, Edwin decided to explore the town.

He immediately strolled towards the art gallery. The unique shape of the building was impressive on its own, but Edwin couldn’t wait to see inside.

The gallery was decent for a small town like Riverview. Edwin was hopeful that one day his paintings could be displayed in such a place.

After spending a considerable amount of time in the gallery, Edwin realized how late it was getting and decided to head home.

Instead of taking another taxi, Edwin chose to walk home and enjoy the warm evening.

When he passed by a particular house, something unexpectedly caught Edwin's eye.

That something was a young woman. Her older fashion sense reflected an intelligence that continued to attract Edwin's attention. She was looking away from the window, oblivious to the fact that he was outside.

Edwin glanced at her for a while longer. “What a beautiful woman” he thought.

After coming back to his senses, Edwin continued on his journey home.

By the time he arrived back on the lot, it was getting very late.

After storing his groceries in the fridge, Edwin headed straight for bed.

As he drifted off to sleep, Edwin continued to think about the woman in the window. He decided that one day he would find out who she was.

  1. This is pretty good ! I liked the fact you wrote it as a story instead of just telling us what's happening.

  3. Can't wait for the next chapter! :) I'm planing on creating my own legacy soon, though I'm currently unsure at the moment if it will end up being for a story or not.
